You’d have thought he’d do a better job of preparing himself to meet her. I know he has emotions towards those he considers “his people”, but this is overblown to a significant extent. He is reminiscent of a Japanese anime character, all that’s missing is a description of his face feeling on fire (him blushing) and a few stutters and he’s quintessential irritating anime MC material, lol.

He acts like a bitter old man quite often, so that’s an apt description…
