Hypogeum, I - Novel Discussion
Great cliffhanger. Felt quite satisfied reading this story hope you continue it soon.
Like what the heck summoning someone with a reason not saving the world?
I would assume that part of the regression had memory loss as a side effect, or perhaps he had false memories implanted from the beginning
Somehow, I feel like I get blind saint vibes from this novel, mainly with the mc's obsession with changing the tragic future only he knows.
I haven't actually read that one yet! Maybe I should check it out, it always seemed sort of sad for my tastes...
I was reviewing what was said on discord previously and the comments left on my novel since the contest is almost over and remembered the time when you mentioned how I described Rain's time on Earth as boring. I didn't know how to really describe my feelings on the matter back then, nor do I now, but I'd like to kind of explain myself a bit nonetheless.
There is this absolutely wonderful shoegaze track by an artist named Parannoul called "White Ceiling". In it, the protagonist laments how his life feels like it is unchanging, as if he is living the same day over and over. This is heavily characterized by the white ceiling of his bedroom, as it's what he sees both when he wakes up and when he goes to bed.
Thinking back, I liken the way Rain thinks about his time on Earth to this song in some ways. Of course, none of this is to say that I couldn't have done better. Just that this was my mindset when going into considering the way Rain would think back to his time on Earth. I don't want to go any further of course, as I can always expand on actual characterization in the story, rather than through my mediocre, pseudo authors note.
I wouldn't call the song an inspiration or anything. It just spoke to me at one point. Anyways, I just wanted to talk about that. <3 I don't even know if anyone sees these replies I make sometimes, hahah~.
Hmm, I feel that if you found a way to subtly imply these feelings in the story, it would’ve matched well with the story.
In the end, it’s more so just a philosophical disagreement with the story, rather than a true flaw.
Thank you for your wonderful comments and your insight on discord, bluesilt <3 I hope that I get to continue sharing this story with the people on this platform! I'll do my best, even if my story is far slower than others!
